Rebecca and fellow Head Coach David Portas have helped to develop each child attending the sessions which have proven a huge success, with each now continuing into a new term and being fully booked.

So far the funding has helped the club purchase equipment to offer a wide range of opportunities to experience different gymnastics disciplines. A parent of one of the participants has been supported financially through her Level 1 (Assistant Coach Award) while another Level 1 coach will be working on her Level 2 award over the next few months.

Parents of those attending are very supportive of the club. “It’s so nice to have something in Wensleydale and not having to travel so far”, “both of my children have attended the last 2 courses and have thoroughly enjoyed it and will continue to attend as long as possible”

Before Christmas, all children participating in the Gymnastics Club coaching sessions were invited to attend a Christmas Festival at Richmond School. Over 40 children attended the day and were scored on a number of skills they had been learning throughout the first series of sessions. The day was a huge success thanks to coaches, parents and children alike. Each child was given a medal to commemorate their successful completion of their first club competition. One parent told the club that their child who had attended the Christmas festival was that impressed with getting a medal that ‘they wore it every day for over a week, it was even hung on display in the living room over Christmas!’
