YEARS of fierce rivalry between Whitby's two rowing clubs was cast aside as 23 eager children arrived to join a new Whitby schools' rowing club.
The children assembled around a rowing boat – the first time ever a boat had both the Fishermen's and Friendship's red and a blue oar placed inside it, side by side.

Sarah Bannister, a student from the Ryedale and Whitby School Sport Partnership has recently attended a Step Into Sport camp in Loughborough aimed at bringing some of the best young sports leaders from across the country together to recognise the contribution they make to volunteering within sport in their local community.
North Yorkshire Sport caught up with Sarah on her return to hear all about the camp and the impact it has made on her confidence levels.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s first day of the season was a huge success against Sussex in the Friends Provident Trophy on Sunday 26th April. Not only did Yorkshire win by 14 runs, with a score of 227-5, there was a record attendance of 3717! more>>
