Yorkshire Cricket Throw Show Visits Craven
Pupils from Craven were visited by the Yorkshire Cricket Throw Show on Tuesday 7th April - a brand new cricket skills activity purchased by Yorkshire County Cricket Club with the help of the Charitable Youth Trust.
50 Year 5 & 6 children from 19 local schools were selected as Gifted and Talented based on 5 strands (cognitive/physical/social/personal and creative) and asked to attend a Multi-Skills Academy on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th April at Upper Wharefdale School and Specialist Sports College in Craven.
During day 1 they took part in team building activities, aquatic skills and fitness, and on Day 2 they developed racket skills, ultimate golf and indoor athletics.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club's Academy players Charlie Roebuck and Joe Root attended and helped the pupils develop core cricket skills including throwing, catching, batting and bowling.
Joe Root said 'I've had so much fun today and it's been good to see the pupils developing their skills in a range of activities. It's really important to keep fit and healthy and I hope Charlie and I have helped show you can have fun while doing so.'
Alison Giles, Community Marketing Manager at YCCC, commented 'Craven School Sport Partnership are extremely proactive and have developed an excellent Academy for their pupils. It's been a great opportunity, loads of fun and YCCC are very proud to have contributed to the activities.'
