New approaches to volunteering

North Yorkshire Sport recently secured funding to work with communities in order to help to alleviate loneliness and isolation across our county using age appropriate activity as a tool to engage with individuals.

We are delivering a programme of training to better equip volunteers working with older people or sports clubs who would like to improve their services to older people in their community.

What can we offer you? - Sports clubs

  • Initial needs analysis - to identify additional training and support needed to better equip your club to work with older people.
  • Training for your volunteers as identified in your needs analysis. Eg. Dementia Awareness / Bereavement support / Sporting Memories / Sport Specific
  • Supported links to age appropriate groups and increased awareness of the club.
  • Support in sourcing additional volunteers if the club requires extra help
