What is your coaching background?
I was attracted to coaching through a friend and coach Nicky Proctor. I could relate to her thoughts that exercise in any form can promote not only a healthy body but a healthy mind. when Nicky said she was starting a Couch to 5k I instantly asked if i could help.
Was there someone you looked up to or inspired you to coach when you were younger?
My father was my role model as a child he was a runner and would coach me for my running, at 74 he joins our couch to 5k and loves the group.
What do you enjoy most about your role as a coach/ instructor?
My role allows me to pass on my experiences, meet new people and encourage well being through exercise.
What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a coach?
I would state what a great role it is, the strength and positive state of mind it creates, I would encourage them and ensure I was there for support, guidance.
Have you overcome any barriers to get into coaching? If so, what and how have you done this?
As a recently single mum of two and working full time. it has been a logistical challenge, but It has been a focal point in my week and i have looked forward to our sessions.
