What is your coaching background?
I began coaching following years of playing and enjoying myself. I began to represent Yorkshire, which made me think about coaching. I coach at schools in the area and at Ripon Nomads Badminton Club and Boroughbridge Feathers Badminton Club, along with North Yorkshire Performance Centre. I coach from age 8years to adult, male and female players. Most of my coaching is with players age 8yrs to 25yrs.
Was there someone you looked up to or inspired you to coach when you were younger?
My inspiration was came from watching The All England Tournaments at Birmingham Arena.
What do you enjoy most about your role as a coach/ instructor?
I get great pleasure from seeing young players having fun and keeping active. It has been a privilege to coach all my players and I hope to continue to inspire them.
What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a coach?
I would tell them that is one of the most important things they could possibly do.
Have you overcome any barriers to get into coaching? If so, what and how have you done this?
I have had to come to terms with not being able to fulfil my dreams immediately because of a poor relationship, but playing a port does help with emotional problems
