Young Reporter Experience
The North Yorkshire School Games 'Young Reporter Experience' is for any budding journalists and is a chance to experience the games as part of the media team for the day.
The opportunity is available at the event at Queen Margarets School on Sunday 3rd July and is open to anyone aged 13 and under who is not competing.
As part of the day you will get the chance to work with current marketing professionals gaining some hints and tips on how to put together a report of the day to enter in to the young reporter competition, in addition all the young reporters signed up for the day will get an exclusive opportunity to interview our special guest for the day, former Great Britain Olympic and Commonwealth swimmer, Chris Cook.
Format of the day
You will arrive with your school team and accompany them during the registration process and the opening ceremony. When your team registers they will be issued with a media pass for the young reporter which is yours to wear for the day. During this time it may be an idea to gather the thoughts of your team and your team manager and take some photos of your team and the opening ceremony.
Once the opening ceremony has finished you will accompany your team to their sport. You will need to return to the marquee (where the opening ceremony takes place) for 11am. You will be greeted by Sophie and Georgie who will give you some hints and tips about writing a report and preparing interview questions. You will then have chance to interview Chris Cook to get the exclusive quotes for your article.
At approximately 11:45 when the session has finished, all young reporters will be accompanied back to their sport and handed back to the parent or team manager.
There are limited spaces for the young reporter experience which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To apply please complete the form below and a member of the team will contact you to confirm the details.
