All individuals and organisations have a moral and legal responsibility to ensure the safeguarding and protecting of children. Whenever volunteers and paid staff provide activities for children they have a duty of care for these children. This duty extends to making sure children are safe in all sporting activities and integral to this is that sport is fun. Various initiatives have been designed to support this mandate including the Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in England which the majority of Sport England-funded national governing bodies are working towards or have achieved.
You have a vital role as the club welfare officer in supporting your club to achieve these safeguarding aims. This training resource is designed to provide you with the tools that will support you and your club to safeguard and protect children.
- This is a multi-sport version of the Time to Listen course. Some National Governing Bodies (NGBs) offer sport specific versions of the course. Importantly some NGBs only accept their own sport specific version of this course for Welfare Officers in their sport. Please confirm with your NGB that the multi-sport version of the course is acceptable before booking.
- This is not an entry level safeguarding course. You must have previously attended a Basic Safeguarding course (UK Coaching's Safeguarding and Protecting Children or equivalent).
