Motivational Interviewing- Introductory Webinar

“Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with a particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion” (Miller & Rollnick, 2013).

Motivational Interviewing- Introductory Webinar

Now in its 15th year, the Sheffield Hallam University MI workshop series has been delivered to over 3500 front line health professionals and practitioners across the world. We offer training and supervision for those wishing to develop skills in MI whatever their level of experience and setting within which they work.

This webinar will present a contemporary view on MI and its role in supporting clients achieve health behaviour and lifestyle change. It will consider the MI 'spirit', micro-skills (OARS), and their impact on eliciting client change talk and building client autonomy and motivation toward change. Most clients we work with in lifestyle and health behaviour settings find change challenging yet typical approaches often do not appreciate their ambivalence or reluctance to initiate and maintain change. These aspects will be considered along with one or two ideas on how practitioners might begin to manage client reluctance to change.

This short webinar will wet the appetite of the learner and give more information as to what till be in the 2 day course taking place in September and how it can be used in your setting. These dates and booking for this will be released shortly.
