Active English Workshop

As you will be aware, the government are committed to making the school day more active and creating opportunities for all children to be physically active for 60 minutes a day.

To support this, government have committed to ensuring the PE and Sport funding remains for at least 2019/2020 – and in the recent Parliamentary Review it was highlighted how active Maths and active English lessons can be a powerful way to increase physical activity, whilst also improving standards in these core subjects.

To spread and showcase this important message, the national organisations the 'Youth Sport Trust' and 'Teach Active' have partnered up to deliver FREE CPD workshops across the UK

The course is both theory and practical and will demonstrate how teaching aspects of sentence, punctuation, text, handwriting, spelling and word can all be done through move and learn techniques.

The course* has been written in conjunction with National English consultants and will support schools in the delivery of the primary English curriculum. As part of the course, teachers will gain access to free trail of the online resource 'Teach - Active English' which provides teachers with plans/resources on how to deliver the English curriculum through physical activity.

* This is a new course for 2019/2020 and has come as a result of the UK success of the Active Maths CPD delivered by Teach Active and the Youth Sport Trust

* Please note this course is for qualified teachers

We recommend that the English and PE leads for each school attend the course together to gain most benefit.
