Boing - Learning Through Play

Boing

  • Boing is a playgame based curriculum of physical literacy building games aimed at primary school aged kids.
  • Boing was developed by Doug Struthers, ex co-owner of Ella's Kitchen organic baby food and Oxford Brookes Sports coaching dept (who gave Boing its academic and research foundation)
  • 120 playgames are in the on-line playtank which allow children to develop their physical literacy whilst having a lot of fun.
  • Engaging, empowering and child-centred, these playgames are for future elite athletes as well as the children we are currently losing from activity.
  • Boing aims to have 1 million children 'Boing-ing' by 2024
  • We are currently used by around 15 schools as their PE session and by 1200 FREE SIGN UP coaches, parents and teachers (go to www.boingkids.co.uk and sign up!)

Sport England

  • Boing has begun a project with Sport England to train 2000 master trainers in how to run Boing and how to train others to run Boing.
  • We will be running FREE courses in many regional locations (ok, not quite free as there is a £10 admin fee)
  • The aim is to get at least 80% of the coaches from non-sport eg girl guides, inclusive and disadvantaged groups and 20% from NGBs and other sporting groups.

Why should I come on the FREE course? (£10 admin fee)

  • As a coach you will learn how to run Boing playgames, and how to train others in your organisation in how to run the playgames.
  • You will gain valuable insights into how to coach and develop children, and see the inspiring impact that the playgames create when used well.
  • To qualify for the discounted rate you need to be a coach or volunteer who can train at least 10 other coaches/volunteers how to run Boing within the next 6 months.
  • The course is being accredited by CIMSPA and you will receive a Boing certificate.

The cost of the course is £10 admin fee
