North Yorkshire Sport are looking for delivery partners and instructors to lead the delivery of the ESCAPE-pain rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain in Scarborough and Ryedale areas of the county.
About ESCAPE-Pain Deliverer
Deliverers of ESCAPE Pain will be required to complete a 1 day training course providing they meet the pre-requisites of:
- Level 2/3 gym instructor/personal trainer or equivalent (demonstrating underpinning anatomy and physiology.
- Level 3 exercise referral or a level 4 qualification.
- At least 150 hours previous experience of working with specialist populations eg exercise referral, cardiac, back care, falls etc.
In addition, deliverers must display attitudes and behaviours relevant to the participants and be able to empathise with the target group. Deliverers must also undertake monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
ESCAPE-pain programmes consists of 6 weekly blocks with 2 sessions per week with an expectation that 8 blocks would be delivered across the 19/20 financial year.
The programme integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen individualised for each participant. It helps people understand their condition, teaches them self help, and takes them through an exercise programme so they learn how to cope with pain better.
Robust evaluation shows that ESCAPE-pain reduces pain, improves physical function and reduces healthcare costs and is NICE endorsed.
Delivery of ESCAPE-pain in Scarborough and Ryedale is subject to a funding award, if successful this will fund venue costs, training and instructor time. North Yorkshire Sport will manage a referral process and undertake marketing for the programme.
