About School Sport Partnership Officer
37 hours per week 40 weeks per year; 39 weeks of term time including 5 inset days and 5 days during school holidays/negotiated hours during term-time. Fixed-term appointment September 2019 – July 2020.
The Bolsover District School Sport Partnership (SSP) supports the Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity needs of 44 schools. Our offer to schools includes supporting schools with CPD and Lead Practitioner opportunities in PE, producing and delivering an extensive competition calendar, providing a leadership and volunteering programme for young people, identifying and supporting gifted and talented young people, providing a dedicated active lunchtimes programme in our primary schools, and coordinating programmes such as Bikeability where outside agencies are commissioned to deliver.
We have developed a very good reputation since the SSP came in to existence in 2005, based upon our results, partnership working, and the quality of communication with our schools. Key partners include Derbyshire Active Schools Network, Bolsover District Council, Active Derbyshire and The Youth Sport Trust. There is a reasonably close proximity between three of the secondary schools, at Clowne, Bolsover and Shirebrook.
The SSP is based at Shirebrook Academy, and the successful applicant would be made a member of staff at this school. There is a Partnership office on the site, and this will provide a base for the post holder.
Shirebrook Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Applications will be assessed against the skills, knowledge and experience detailed in the attached job description and person specification. Applications can be placed via email and should be submitted no later than 12.00pm, Monday 2 September 2019.
