About Service Manager - Physical Activity Sports & Health
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sheffield City Council's Physical Activity, Sport and Health Team, leading on a range of sport, physical activity and public health related projects across the city. We are looking for a passionate, driven and focussed manager to lead the development and implementation of strategies, policies and plans that set the direction and standards for future delivery.
Sheffield is renowned nationally as the City of Sport, a city dedicated to Moving More and more recently recognised as the Outdoor City and we are set on continuing to make it easy for people across Sheffield to become active and lead healthy lifestyles whoever they are, wherever they live.
It is the Partnerships, Sport and Health Teams' role within the Council to lead this work, and we are looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and driven individual to join us in this. To lead the team, you will have significant experience in a related field. You will need to be creative, be able to communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders and elected representatives and demonstrate proven leadership, project skills and financial management.
You will be responsible for leading on strategy and policy development, as well as securing funding to help deliver key priorities. You will work with a range of key partners to deliver city-wide priorities key strategic projects.
You will have experience of working with national, regional and local organisations, have the skills required to develop and implement projects in collaboration with partners and communities and be dedicated to delivering activity where it is needed the most.
There will be a requirement to lead work programmes both internally with colleagues and Councillors, as well as externally with local and national partners, Voluntary/Community sector organisations, Sports Clubs and National Governing Bodies.
This is a two-year fixed term role, please seek the permission of your line manager prior to your application if you are applying on a secondment basis. It is intended that interviews will take place on 21 & 22 April 2021.
