School Games Badminton title claimed

Huntington School and Wensleydale School took local bragging rights at the Level 3 School Games Badminton tournament, held today (Wednesday 8th of February) at the York Railway Institute.

The competition comprised of Key Stage 3 and 4 girls and boys, with some closely fought battles across the board.

Wensleydale dominated the KS3 boys and girls, and Huntington took the KS4 boys and girls.

Lucy Psarias, Sports Development Manager for North Yorkshire Sport said, 'This level three School Games event is a great way to foster regular activity and encourage participation in competitive sport. The day was a great success with some local rivalries being rekindled as the schools looked to progress through the tournament pyramid. Congratulations to all the winners who thoroughly deserved their titles, and well done the all the students who took part who made the matches so exciting.'

The next stage (Level 4) of the competition takes place on Wednesday 8th March also at the York Railway Institute.
