There will be celebrations in Scarborough tonight as Seamer School (pictured top) took first place and became champions in the North Yorkshire School Games Sportshall Athletics.
Catterick Leisure centre was the venue once again, and over 200 athletes from schools across North Yorkshire took to the court to battle through a series of relay races, plus field events including vertical jump, standing long jump and chest push. All the representatives had qualified to compete through local events.
North Yorkshire Sport mascot Teddy the Terrier was on hand to keep the crowd entertained and lead the support for the athletes.
After a hectic day of competition, Scarborough placed first (Seamer School), York were second (Archbishop of York's CE Junior School), and Selby were third (Hambleton School).
North Yorkshire Sport Head of Development George Cull said "Huge congratulations to all the athletes who took part in today's event. Just qualifying for these finals was a great achievement, so the athletes can all be proud of their results and a great display of team spirit. A special mention to the top three from Scarborough, York and Selby who excelled today to take home the winners medals".
