What is your coaching background?

I have coached football in a primary school for over 10 years. I am now a coach for Skipton Juniors coaching a girls and a boys football team. My girls team are U11's and currently play in the West Riding girls league. The boys team I coach is U8's and play in the Dales Friendly league and the Craven, Aire and Wharfe league. I got involved with girls football when my own daughter wanted to play football in a girls team and there wasn't a team in Skipton for her to play in. Working in partnership with West Riding we got our first girls team started 6 years ago. We now have girls teams at four different age groups. I am also club mentor for the U11's age groups which means I support other coaches and develop our young leaders.

What do you enjoy most about your role as a coach/ instructor?

I enjoy watching children develop their skills and confidence participating in sporting activities.

What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a coach?

Give it a go! You don't have to be good at sport yourself to be a good coach. It is great fun!

Have you overcome any barriers to get into coaching? If so, what and how have you done this?

I do have to commit to many weekends whilst coaching football so it can be time consuming. I have to juggle around family commitments.
