Primary School Games success at the University of York

Today the University of York played host to the second largest North Yorkshire School Games multi-sport event in the school calendar.

The event saw young athletes compete in Cricket, Special Cricket, Quad Kids (Athletics), and despite rain for most of the day there were no complaints from the competitors. Cricket was moved indoors but apart from that the day went ahead as planned.

The athletes were awarded medals on the day by young leaders from York College and Askham Bryan College who all played a role making the event a success as well as Teddy the Terrier the North Yorkshire Sport mascot!

Lucy Psarias from North Yorkshire Sport said, 'Congratulations to all the young people who made it to compete in this event. We had over 400 children here across all primary year groups, and i'm confident that they all went home with a smile on their faces after a fun day out playing sport!'.

North Yorkshire Sport would like to thank our event deliverers, School Games Organisers, The University of York and our sponsor The Education Network for helping to make the event a success.

There were many highlights from the day and the athletics in-particular was very closely fought across all three age groups.
