Today saw the finale of the North Yorkshire School Games, with over 500 young people taking part in the county final event.
Having already competed in local and district events in their chosen sport, the competition was extremely close across Tennis, Quicksticks Hockey, Netball, Tag Rugby, Tri Golf and Football. The weather gods were smiling and blazing sunshine was enjoyed throughout the day at the picturesque grounds of Queen Margarets School near York.
With former Olympic swimmer Chris Cook on hand to host the opening ceremony and present all the winners with their medals, the competitors were in good company.
North Yorkshire Sport mascot Teddy the Terrier also put in an appearance to keep everyone smiling.
Winners were decided across all the sports, and links to the overall placings can be found below.
Lucy Psarias from North Yorkshire Sport said, 'Today was a great success and also a celebration of so many young people from across the county reaching the highest level of the School Games in the county. As well as the hard fought competition the feedback has been that lots of them made new friends and met people from across the county. We're really happy that children, teachers and parents have all enjoyed themselves so much.'
