North Yorkshire Sport Ltd, the charity that utilises sport and physical activity as a driver for positive change across the county, are delighted to announce that we have completed our move to our new premises.
We have entered in to an agreement with Richard Taylor's Educational Foundation to become the anchor tenants of Bilton Youth Centre which has been a fixture on Bilton Lane in Harrogate since 1967. The move is the start of a partnership between the two organisations that should secure the future of the building for years to come.
Existing users will continue to be supported to access the building and new users will be encouraged to support the development of the centre as a community asset providing health and well being activities for all ages..
Early plans include the re-naming of the centre, a minor refurbishment in the New Year and an expansion of the current use of the building. For example, Fitmums and Friends, a beginners running group, will launch weekly runs from the centre this January and a new art group will start on Mondays. A longer-term vision for the centre is being worked up with the local community.
David Watson, CEO of North Yorkshire Sport said, 'We are delighted to have the opportunity to relocate our staff and operations to the Bilton Youth Centre, and secure not only a new home for us as the County Sport Partnership for North Yorkshire and York, but to enter into what we hope will be a long-term relationship with Richard Taylor's Educational Foundation to support the health and well being of the local community.'
Rev Simon Dowson, Chair of trustees, Richard Taylor Educational Foundation, said, 'The trustees of the Richard Taylor Educational Foundation are really pleased to welcome North Yorkshire Sport to be the new anchor tenant of the Bilton Youth Club. We believe we are entering into what will be a mutually beneficial partnership for both organisations, not least because of our shared commitment to seeing the building become an enhanced community/young people's resource for years to come.'
