Sign up for the Bud’s Run Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and support local residents to raise £ for Parkinson’s UK

Local residents Gavin and Becky Booth are looking for willing walkers to tackle the Bud's Run Yorkshire three peak challenge on Saturday 19 May, an endurance walk which will raise money for Parkinson's UK.

It's a great opportunity for friends and family to come together and do something a little different. The event will be fully managed and supported by outdoor education specialists Carnegie Great Outdoors based at Leeds Beckett University who will provide information, qualified instructors, checkpoints, vehicle support and refreshments.

It will cost £30 to enter which will cover Carnegie Great Outdoors' event costs. Anything left will go to Parkinson's UK. The organisers are hoping to raise £10,000 for the charity to fund further research and participants are asked to raise money, although there is no minimum sponsorship fee required.

Each group of 10 will have a qualified Mountain Leader to support them. The challenge will commence 6:30 - 7:30am and the average walking time is 10 hours. It's a tough challenge covering 24.5 miles and walking preparation and fitness is needed. Organisers also anticipate a running group if anyone is interested in upping the ante.

The event is in association with Bud's Run. Bud's Run is an annual 5k fun run that takes place in Birmingham every October. It was set up in honour of the work of GB athletics coach Bud Baldaro who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2009.

Bud Baldaro is the father of Becky Baldaro Booth who has just left Leeds Beckett University after 13 years' service. Gavin Booth, Becky's husband works in Carnegie Great Outdoors at Leeds Beckett University.
