Do you want to learn how to make your activity sessions inclusive to better engage disabled students and those with long term health conditions? Then why not arrange an Inclusive Activity Programme Workshop at your university during BUCS' Inclusion Week!
Activity Alliance's Inclusive Activity Programme launched in June 2018 and builds on the successful delivery of the Sainsbury's Inclusive Community Training programme which successfully trained over 10,500 participants to support disabled people to be more active.
The Inclusive Activity Programme will equip your university's sports clubs with the skills to engage disabled people and people with long-term health conditions more effectively in activities. It will provide a unique learning opportunity that significantly improves the confidence and competence of your coaches, activators, leaders and volunteers to deliver inclusive activity to all students. The programme consists of a three hour practical workshop, with focus on the social model of inclusion using the Activity Inclusion Model and STEP, through which participants are supported to:
- Learn about practical tools to support inclusive delivery
- Learn about Activity Alliance's ten 'Talk to Me Principles'
- Explore creative ideas to support disabled people to take part in physical activity and sport
- Learn about local groups, activities and further training opportunities
