North Yorkshire Sport has recently been awarded the Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework, as one of the first 4 organisations nationally and the first 2 Active Partnerships in England, this means that we are meeting the essential requirements of all the framework criteria.
The framework has allowed North Yorkshire Sport to assess where we are across a range of indicators and put in place an action plan to further improve our safeguarding practices.
We are committed to safeguarding everyone in sport & physical activity and believe safeguarding adults is a responsibility for every sport and physical activity organisation.
The Ann Craft Trust has worked with Sport England and the sport and activity sector to develop the Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework.
The Framework will provide safeguarding adults standards within the sport and activity sector which will:
- Demonstrate practical understanding of Adult Safeguarding
- Promote best practice
- Support ongoing development
The Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework is endorsed by Sport England. It supports the vision set out in 'Towards an Active Nation' that everyone in England, regardless of age, background or ability, feels able to take part in sport or activity.
Damien Smith, Head of Development at North Yorkshire Sport said "Achieving this framework means a lot to us. It recognises our safeguarding adults work, highlights many of the great things we have in place as an organisation and allows up to action plan for the future.
