All secondary schools in North Yorkshire and County Durham were invited to take part in an online survey, and more than half responded. The survey was looking at the facility stock in schools, what it is used for and who uses it.

Schools were also asked what the barriers were to opening up the facilities to use outside of school hours, as well as what the drivers to doing this are or would be. Schools told us what the plans for the future were, in terms of opening up for community use, and what help they might require.
