What is Stop Smoking?

Now is the right time to quit. Every cigarette causes you real harm and quitting smoking is healthier for you and your family.

Smoking damages your body in many ways. From the day-to-day effects on your heart and your breathing, to longer-term smoking-related diseases such as heart disease, cancer and stroke. Your smoke can harm your family's health, too.

The NHS has stop smoking services staffed by trained stop smoking advisers all over the country in a range of venues at times to suit you. You can join a group where local smokers meet once a week or have one-to-one support if you prefer. You usually go for a few weeks and work towards a quit date.
